Troop 37 Cave Exploration Hike on December 15, 2024!
On December 15, Troop 37 will be returning to the caves of Harriman State Park. Come join
us on our Cave Shelter Hike via the Long Path Trail as we explore the caves of the
northernmost part of Harriman State Park on Stockbridge Mountain. On this day trip we will
be learning and applying the skills of orienteering and navigation, cave exploration
(spelunking), and geo-caching, as we discover the caves near The Cave Shelter in Harriman
State Park.
In the runup to our adventure, our weekly evening meetings will focus on key skills, training
participants in:

• Map and compass use
• GPS and geo-caching
• Celestial navigation
• Way points
• Orienteering
• Spelunking
• Charting and Plotting
