The Great American Camporee

In celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and establishment of the United States, Troop 37 participated in the Grand American Camporee: “ Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Scouting” at Thomas Bull Park in Montgomery, New York on Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 3. The Camporee was attended by 650 scouts and 300 volunteers from the Hudson Valley Scout Council.
Scouts explored themed stations, games and exhibits, and participated in hands- on activities that highlighted American ingenuity, service leadership and citizenship. Activities connected historic events to the values of Scouting, while emphasizing fellowship with other scout troops from the Greater Hudson Valley Council.
In the tradition of service, leadership and fun, Troop 37 ran the fishing station. Over 300 scouts went fishing, with 15 confirmed catches, including bass, bluegills and even a 5-inch aquatic snail!
Troop 37 scouts and leaders camped as a troop, and were joined by Troop 33 from Nanuet for campfires on Friday and Saturday nights.
